This month the famous colour institute has released their colour trends for Spring 2018. These colour trends are said to be for the London Fashion Week, however as we all know many of the trends that can be seen in the fashion industry are often also seen within the design world. Therefore it is worth knowing what the recent trends are, especially in terms of colours as different colours can often evoke different emotions and these can affect the consumers decision about whether to get a certain product or not.
Leatrice Eiseman who is the Executive Director in the Pantone Color Institute has said “We broadened the direction for Spring 2018 to satisfy the growing consumer appetite for flexibility of expression through colour. Unique shades for the London runway convey themes of energy, sophistication and serenity. There are multi-dimensional and grounded hues, while others exude a vibrant breath of fresh air.” and “Consumers are looking for more colour variety. This expanded palette speaks to spontaneous colour usage and embraces the lack of gender and seasonal borders we are seeing embraced within the London fashion industry.” There are 12 colours in the palette and different shades of pink seem to be dominating it. In addition many of the colours that are included in this palette are quite vivid and hard to miss, however calmer colours such as Almost Mauve can also be found for those who prefer more neutral tones. This selection of colours is varied, therefore everyone should be able to find at least one colour that suits their preferences.
